These books are short-story, but intertwining timeless treasures of veterinary practice in the UK before, during, and after modern scientific methods. They tell humorous family, animal, and rural stories that cannot be found elsewhere. It is a great sorrow that these books are becoming obscure. Perhaps they will be found again. My wife has reread them dozens of times; I always do not hesitate to pick one up again when I find myself without a good book to read. Heartily recommend.

Received all my books and I'm pleased! I've never ordered used books before. Usually read books in my kindle. Had no preconceived ideas. Bought these for my dear friend enduring cancer treatments. Sad to say she passed before I could give them to her. I read all of Herriots books years and years ago. I think I will read them anyway and pass them on. Reselling used books is an excellent recycling success! I would do this again. Thank you.

I can think of nothing more soothing to the soul in these troubling times than reading James Herriot's memoirs of life as a big animal vet in the Yorkshire dales in the 1930's. Heartwarming and superbly written, it is also a timely reminder that we really have it easy nowadays.Just a few chapters of his practice in the winter will make you appreciate how good you've got it.
