You'll go from a beginner to an advanced folder in no time!
I'm a beginner and after doing a few models from videos and folding instructions on the internet I wanted to better understand what I was doing. This book was an excellent choice. It explains all the different bases and folds and gives you the terminology and symbols to understand instructions from anywhere. Every chapter starts with easy models (difficulty level 1) then gets harder (up to difficulty level 5). It's an instruction manual not a pretty picture book so you might find that disappointing. But since it's easy to find pictures on the internet I found it was no big deal.I suggest getting the paperback format. I bought the kindle version and find the text on the diagrams is hard to read and doesn't adjust with the kindle font size. I may go back and buy a hard copy.

A good all-round book
I've had this book for over 2 years now, can't believe I never gave it a review, so here it is. It is one of my favorite origami books, and by now I have around 25 or so, plus numerous downloads from the internet. This is a good no-nonsense book for beginners to advanced, and has helped me advance, though at my age I'll never be an expert! Nick Robinson's book truly has something for everyone, and I refer to it probably once a week just to make something from it or to get help in doing projects from other sources. There is a great variety of origami "types", and inspires you to spread your wings and attempt models from other sources. The diagrams are very clear. I've purchased other books that disappointed me, but this one never did. I'm very happy with it and glad that I purchased it. I really think this book should be part of the library of anyone just starting out in origami, as i was when I bought it, and it continues to be a good resource now that I'm an "origami nut". (Or as my husband says, an origami monster!)

Great Models!
I wouldn't necessarily agree that these are the WORLD'S BEST ORIGAMI models, however, they are quite good and enjoyable to complete. The directions are clear and I never felt lost for the next step. I've been folding origami for decades and was able to complete every model in the book with ease. I had the apple sitting on display near my kitchen table and many people thought it was amazing. Images showed up great on my kindle, sometimes words were a little small and annoying, but overall I was very satisfied with my purchase.I'm giving this book 5 stars for being an origami book available for kindle, if it were just a black and white paper book, I might give it only 4. It is hard to compete with a large and beautiful full-color origami book, but i can't fit one of those into the side pocket of my backpack with a little stack of folding paper, so black and white kindle version, you get 5 stars!

Excellent starter book
This was the first origami book we ever bought and it was a great starter book. I'd done origami before (a long time ago) but my boyfriend never had. This book had models that were challenging for both of us and fun. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because we weren't crazy about all the models, some of them seemed like fillers. Very occasionally the written directions didn't match what you were supposed to do but the pictures cleared it up. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in origami that has been scared off from other books that are for advanced or expert folders. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and I'm glad I did, this was a great book.

I feel like steps are being left out
Only giving 3 stars because some of the directions, especially levels 4 and 5 , leave me hanging as to what to do next....I feel like steps are being left out....maybe the author meant the book to only be used by expert folders, which I am not....I'm not that bad...in fact, I am fairly good at following directions, but I feel like not enough steps are being used and explained for the upper-level folding tecnhiques. I still haven't perfected many of the level 4-5 projects. I have used uTube to help with some of the projects, but cannot find u-tube directions for some of othem.

Great way to learn
This is a great book to begin learning oragami. The beginning chapters allow you to practice basic skills and folds and also thoroughly defines the world of oragami for you. The following chapters then begin to let you explore models to fold and practice what you have learned in ever more complex ways. A great way to get hooked on a very fun hobby and a great way to relax.

A fairly elementary book for beginners
I am not an origami master by any means, but I found this book somewhat disappointing in that the designs were pretty basic, and in my opinion, not particularly attractive or clever. The most useful chapters were the first one on the fundamentals of basic origami folds and the one on folding containers, such as bowls and boxes. I think this book would be fine for children and adults just starting to learn this art.

really good
Excellent book indeed. Really good range of origami, I was a beginner when I started with it and have now made most of them, the diagrams are very good, I know I'll never take this book to the charity shop, my friends and family often get cards with one of the designs stuck to the front now. My favorite is the elephant. The book is all in black and white with no photos of finished pieces which I really like as you only really get to see it once you have made it yourself. Super, recommended.

Very detailed
I would recommend this book to anyone who is fairly competent, but it's not really for beginners. There are some simpler designs to make, and ones I had never seen before such as a simple booklet you can make, but there are some that can become very complicated and confusing for anyone who is just starting.

great book
This book is very good for anyone interested in origami. My son was delighted and has made a lot of the figures. Some are still a bit beyond him at the moment but that gives him something to aim for as he gets older. Happy with purchase.

Beginners view
I love this book. I've just started folding and I find the instructions and diagrams very easy to follow. I even like the fact that there are no photos, it has helped me concentrate on the folding. But no Crane!
