6 is enough
So far I love them and I’d I have any longevity issues I will update accordingly but from what I see they’re great. As a fanboy of OXO I don’t want to be bias but I knew it would be good, come on!? Though I’m kidding I’m serious is saying they’re stout, seemingly well made, heavy and all of mine work well. You can see in my pic I have 6 including 2 of the dark finish for smoked salt and pepper. (See what I did there?)They’re a bit expensive but for the perceived quality I see right now I felt they’re worth it.

The salt grinder works great. The pepper grinder
The salt grinder works great. The pepper grinder, however does not. You have to turn the mill several times to get just a few flakes of pepper, regardless of coarseness setting. Shaking it to get the peppercorns to settle in bottom of grinder helps a little.

Decent
Thank GOD that someone finally had some sense to put the grinders at the top. I was very tired of always having a mess to clean from prior mills.Pro's:- Grinder on top (removes mess)- Decent quality buildCon's:- Price- The grind can seem inefficient many times. Sometimes I feel like i'm really having to crank this thing and it's still barely sprinkling anything.

Falling apart in less than 2 weeks (but replacement has been holding up as it should)
The small cap on the top of my pepper mill just fell off. Have used just a few times since then. I checked the cap on the salt mill and it seems to be ok. The pepper mill still seems to grind ok, but since a prime motivation in my buying this Lua set rather than the regular OXO Good Grips Grinders (of which I already have 5 and never had a bit of trouble) was for the sleek look to display in a special place in my kitchen. Disappointed to say the least ...2/15 update: Realizing I would never be happy with the mill in the defective condition that it was, I did contact OXO customer support and sent them pictures. They asked for me to return the set and they would send another set. It took a while, but now I have a new set and so far, so good.7/15 update: I have upgraded my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars since the replacement mill has been holding up as it should and haven't had any further problems.

Great mills
I love the fact that the mill is on top, so the table does not get paper and salt on it, which always happened with the ones where the grinder is down...this may seem like a minor issue, but when one is always swishing pepper and salt of the table...or jiggling the grinder to knock the loose salt/pepper off.......The adjustment is at the top, as seen in the pic with the dots for indicators, while the part that is twisted, is the opposite end. (typical of most grinders, the part one turns is the opposite of the grinder head. Lastly, they are filled from the end oppsosite of the grinder head (typical). Large opening (most of the bottom of the grinder). Great capacity. Clear view, so one knows the contents and the amount there.I bought these for the dinning table. They look nice, just wish there was a smaller version, not bad, but I think 3/4 the size would look nicer. Much smaller, and then too small for the hand.Range of grind is pretty good, of the 5 settings, for salt, 2nd lowest is about that of table salt, 1 is heavy popcorn salt. Pepper, 1 is typcial for ground pepper, while 3 is about that of course.

Great product and it works right out of the box!
I purchased this after having to return a 4-pack of sub-par grinding mills. The previous ones had a poor design that caused the mechanism to not grind. So, I purchased the OXO brand because all the other products of theirs that I've ever used and own are excellent. You really do get what you pay for. This set also comes preloaded with coarse salt and peppercorns. Literally ready to use after unpacking. We've had it for about a week or so and they continue to work as designed. I also really like the adjustment feature of this. A selector knob on the side with preset and marked positions depending on the size of grind you want. Other brands require you to flip the mill upside down and "tighten" or "loosen" the grinder mechanism depending on what size you want for your ground up salt of pepper. The OXO offers consistency and since it's marked, each person can easily adjust to their preference.UPDATE: Have been using these for well over a month now and they are working as good as the first time. Definitely a well made product as most of OXO’s products usually are.

Easy to use and look great!
Okay I debated for a long time as to whether I should spend $50 on these shakers. I was leaning toward buying a less expensive OXO model but then decided I would never be happy if they didn't look good on the counter and table. To me that meant taller and without a visible logo. I'm so happy I bought these. The grind size dial is easy to use. They work very smoothly. With daily use the past few weeks, I've had no problem yet with the center metal tab piece falling off like others have mentioned. (If it happens I'll just glue it back on as one reviewer suggested.) I couldn't be happier actually. These are a perfect marriage of good looks and functionality.

Guys, these are the things.
As other reviewers have stated, there is an issue where the top decorative cap (the round middle bit that says "OXO") can come off. I knew that going in, but figured I could fix it. Sure enough, one of my caps fell off eventually [see picture], and a little dab of epoxy glue solved the problem. That was months ago now; no further issue. Two-minute fix (plus drying time). In my opinion it's not remotely worth the hassle of a return. So, with everything else going for these mills -- durability, looks, price, tidyness, ease of use, viewability, etc., etc., I'm satisfied they're the best option on Amazon right now. Make sure you've got some decent super glue in the house; and then buy 'em!

Best for kitchen use ever!
I spent a crazy amount of time searching for the exact rock salt dispenser I wanted... all fell short until I found this one. It has a clear, thick, plastic body (easy to clean and doesn’t smash to bits if dropped, like others I’ve had). Stands on its screw-filler base, so no bits of salt on your surfaces as it dispenses from the top by turning upside down. Even has a slide salt-grader so you get to chose your preference of coarseness. IMO - perfect !

Great grinder - and we got 3 years service from it
Loved this mess free grinder - a lovely set salt & pepper, always recommended to friends and family alike who used them. Particularly like the build quality, look, feel in hand, performance, and always a talking point when guests were round. Bought in 2017, and now finally after 3 and a bit years of daily family service, the grinding mechanism has finally gone. Loved it so much I'm buying another. Hope the next one lasts longer...and I might treat it more gently...

Brilliant & Smooth
Works like a charm. I had a cheap plastic salt mill and this replaced it. Obviously this is miles better but it's very easy to use and has good options of the grinding size. I do think this could be cheaper but there are some ridiculous salt mills which are just not work the money.I would recommend this as it does the job.

Chunky and functional
Great product, easy to fill. No mess - just as the name implies. Much more hygienic than bottom dispensers which pick up all manner of gunk off the table/worktop. Another great product from OXO - as I would expect! Just disappointed that I can't seem to find the matching pepper mill anywhere!

Does the job but poor value
It's a decent pepper grinder but you expect better than "decent" when you pay more than £20.I'm not a huge fan of the upside-down design that requires you to invert the grinder before using it. It's awkward and means that dust and kitchen splashes settle in the grinder itself. The adjustability also isn't great, with even the coarsest setting producing quite a lot of fine dust, especially at the start (which is to say, the whole time if you only want a little pepper). On the plus side, it's well made and robust.
