AlbersWhite Corn Meal, 40-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4)

This is the corn meal I grew up with. I love this stuff. I'd been making corn bread, not often, from the meal I could buy here in Virginia. I even went to a local meal to get theirs. Not very corny. I was missing the taste of corn bread I remembered from Arizona. I finally got smart and went on Amazon and ordered Albers. Oh, yum. I've had it with Chili, butter milk, and just by the piece.The funny thing is, my hound dog Sam, is a picky eater. He begs for this bread. I left one piece on the stove so my neighbor could try it. The top was eaten off. Sam. I had to make another batch so she could try it. Even she said it tasted cornier. Will be ordering more when I get low.I made two batches and put it in my "as seen on T.V" brownie pan. The one where you have the insert so everyone gets a crust. Perfect size for a piece.

I have been using Alber's Yellow Corn Meal for about 40 years. I have their recipe for cornbread memorized as it is the best, most pure cornbread I have ever eaten. After moving to the south and not being able to find it I began going through a withdrawal. I tried all different kinds of "corn meal", which, being in the south usually meant more of a "corn FLOUR"! I was eating cakie, heavy cornbread and couldn't stand it. It was in desperation that I checked Amazon and found that I could order my very favorite! Now I have to admit that 4-40 oz boxes is a bit much for 2 old people but I put 2 boxes in the freezer and gave one to my daughter who declared that it made the best cornbread she had ever had also. (She had forgotten the cornbread of her youth!) So, if you are looking for the best, most pure and authentic cornbread ever, stop messing around the cheap copies and get the real thing - Albers!

The product came dated- use by November 2014! I will freeze until I use. I won't order again because they were so close to expiration.

I live in the south and am surrounded by corn meal and corn bread mixes, but I order ALBERS brand through Amazon because it is so much better than what is available locally (IMHO) - and I have looked and tried various brands! This corn meal is a fine grind and has rich flavor and makes the best tasting, best textured cornbread! I use the Albers cornbread recipe on the side of the box! Love it!

This is the brand of cornmeal I used to buy when we were still in Seattle. Now, that we moved in virginia, I can't find it here. So where else to look???? Amazon! There it is. Happy to find it here. It's a lot but I kept them in the freezer to keep them fresh. I tried several brand of cornmeal and I think this is the best. Try it for yourself.

Disappointed. The courseness of the texture is not was I was used to and disappointed.

My wife is gluten free so I'm always looking for different options. This is a pretty finely ground meal. It makes great cornbread (I used the recipe on the box and substituted gluten free flour and used one more egg than recommended, and the whole family loved it) and polenta. No complaints, plus we got a great price through Amazon.

Love this corn meal, I’ve used this brand over 30years. I retired to Georgia ( from California) and I couldn’t find this brand, so I tried various corn meals, most were almost the consistency of flour, thank goodness Amazon carries this product.
