Decent Upgrade
I upgraded from a three year old S9. S9 was a decent phone, good camera and great screen. Battery had begun to fail - lasting only 6 or 7 hours between charges on busy days. The screen got cracked early on as well, despite being wrapped in a good case, as the curved nature of it meant that a sideways drop was not going to end well. Have had Apple and HTC in the past, I am not particularly brand loyal. The S20 offers upgrades on the S9 in the following;- screen size. It goes from 5.8 to 6.2, while not changing the chassis size at all really. Bezels are gone, and it's all screen. It's great to have the pocketability of the S9 but more screen. I felt that the S20+ and the S20 FE were just too big - not in the hand, but in the pocket. Not important to many, but for me the marginal size difference (measured in mm after all) means better portability and I don't care about having a taller screen.- camera. The camera on the S9 is pretty good, but there is a decent upgrade on the S20. I shoot with DSLR when it matters, so I am not expecting much from a phone, but the camera produces nice images.- UI. The 120hz is just ok at first, but then you get used to it and it merges with the UI for a very smooth and fast experience.- less curve. The case offers much better protection. Not much change;- screen quality. Top notch, and the main reason I went for this model.- Expandable storage. This is handy, as 4k video takes up a lot of room, as do high-res pics and high-res music.- battery. It lasts a day and half (which, from memory, is what the S9 lasted, when new). This is fine, I am happy enough to charge it once a day to keep battery anxiety at bay.Downgrades- no headphone jack. This is disappointing - I have a nice set of cans which I now need an (admittedly cheap, but nonetheless annoying) adapter for. Or I go bluetooth, which is just too much tech (and too many radio waves directly into my brain) for me.- price!!! What the junk Samsung? The price when new was ridiculous. I bought at half the launch price - it is OK value at this price, but still has a lot of company - Oneplus and Google, and Samsung's own FE, not to mention Apple stuff. I reckon if you are spending half a grand on a phone, if you are not getting a masterpiece of miniature computer engineering, then forget it. I probably would have been happy with any of the handsets at that price point to be fair, but screen and expandable storage are what swung it for me.Ultimately;- This phone gives expandable storage, a great screen, great camera, nice UI, OK battery, very good size and not too many disadvantages. Price is well below launch now, so it offers decent value. Happy enough.

Great phone, great pictures
This phone is exactly what I was after. I've gone from using an S7, I just wanted a fast phone with a great camera and thats what it is. The pictures come out so good, mostly used on my dogs and I already have some great photos of them. Its also a good size, slightly bigger than the S7 but not too big! I got it in light blue, I was worried I'd get sick of the colour but its actually a really nice touch. Money well spent.

Overall a good phone but with some disappointing features.
Screen and camera are exceptional, however after having a OnePlus 5 for 3 years I expected a little extra battery life and superior performance...it's not really either. I'd class myself a very heavy user and the battery doesnt last as long or charge as quixk as my three year old OnePlus 5.Another major let down is the fingerprint sensor, how did they get it so wrong 😟 it feels like it takes an age to unlock (when it reads) and you really have to push hard in the screen to make it work right, again comparing to my old OnePlus 5, the fingerprint reader was a physical button and is still the fastest and most user friendly I've seen, with a physical button there is never any guessing am I on the right spot, and you can get some feedback when you press it, or simply locate it without even looking. The S20 fingerprint sensor on the S20 is poor in comparison, it gives me that same null feeling I get from driving a budget car that lacks road feeling or feedback through the steering, a numbness. I am considering switching back to OnePlus to try the 8 after only a couple of months, but that screen quality and camera are hard to give up.

Samsung Galaxy S20 4G 128GB
As per my old S8 but with less sensors and a mediocre battery life. The battery in my old phone was getting weak so decided to replace my handset. S20 was the one. It's great until you look for pulse/stress/blood oxygen sensor - not there. Standard 3.5mm headphone socket - not there (although USB C headset was provided, not with all models though!). Calls and text work fine with clear intelligibility, the phone is currently supported with regular software and firmware updates. It does what is says on the tin, but just. I can recommend it as a phone, but I think Samsung need to look at their specifications and reduce the number of sub-models of the 'S20' as there are too many variants with different included accessories.

A good phone, but not the best for the price
I've been using the S20 for the past 5 months now. In short, it's a very quick phone with an impressive display (even more so with 120hz switched on). The 2 clear disappointments with this phone are the hit and miss fingerprint reader which is embedded in the screen, I usually have to take 2 or 3 attempts before it unlocks (my previous phone, the Pixel 3 was much better with the reader being visible and placed on the back). The other being the camera, which leaves so much to be desired, you can only get a very clear image with perfect lighting and that's after waiting 10+ seconds waiting for it to focus (again, my Pixel 3 had a far more impressive camera)All in all, it's a good phone but is it really worth parting with your current device and £1000? Perhaps look for something which leaves you felling like you got more of an upgrade.3.5/5
