I don't like using heat styling tools, so I decided to give these curling rods a try to enhance my waves. They seem like a modern update of the old fashioned curlers. However, my husband still joked about how they looked. And, while they are more comfortable, I didn't find them comfortable enough to sleep in.They weren't as easy to put into my fine but thick hair on my own as I thought they'd be. The instructions say to section hair and wrap it around the rods from the scalp down. I had a hard time securing the rods close to my scalp. They slip a little. I think it is harder to secure shorter hair. Although I have long hair, I have layers that only are long enough to wrap around a few times. I also had a hard time working on the back of my hair because I couldn't see what I was doing well.After air drying, I found that I had created tighter curls than I wanted. It wasn't the best look for me, but it looked better when the curls had loosened.These rods seem to work well to make curls and have potential if you have patience to experiment with them. However, it might be easier if you have somebody put them in for you, or if you are doing somebody else's hair. They would be good for kids too.
