Excellent tool
This is an excellent tool for determining your "check engine" light issue before heading to your friendly car repair shop. However, I think it's important to address some of the issues I had upon first-time use.(1) The "directions" (I am being polite) are quite small and the images virtually useless. They stress the need to first download the free Maxi software, which must be installed on a computer before first use. That software (PC and Mac) is available on the Autel site. The software is easily downloaded, but cannot be used with the unit unless you have registered on the Autel site. Nothing indicates that registration is required to use the software. I found out through trial and error.(2) Once downloaded and installed (and after registration), one opens the application and plugs the unit into the computer with the provided USB cable. The unit then notifies about firmware updates, which are easily applied, but nerve-wracking. (As a systems administrator, I wondered while it updated: "What happens if the firmware update bricks the unit?" But all went without a problem.)(3) I attempted to download the user manual for the unit, but found a 404 error (page not found). That needs fixing pronto. Actually, I didn't need it.(4) Once finished with the update, the unit is ready for use. I spent more time attempting to locate the diagnostics port on my vehicle than I did getting the unit operational.(5) I am concerned that most buyers who are not savvy with computers or the Internet might find all this a bit overwhelming to do. The instructions in the box need to be seriously updated. I doubt the stockholders would agree.(6) My unit came with a free 30 day access to some guru site for expert advice; but, alas, that coupon expired two years ago.The unit works flawlessly and is fairly intuitive. I was going to give it four stars for the company's lackluster Internet portal, but decided Autel is not in the business of thinking like a system administrator. So, there's that.

Gr86 works well with to delete!!
Overall works well, gr86 has no issue to delete code!I had one for cat and it deleted it!Obviously if needed calibration then you buy a autel one for 500$ but to just delete simple codes, this works.(Autel recalibrates my seat sensor)

Great device! Just too slow for my use case.
This has a simple and easy to understand interface, clearly labeled buttons, and can perform tons of useful functions, but if you just need it to read codes for dozens of cars and you need it to be quick, this is not ideal. It's significantly slower to pull codes than Autel's own AL329, and requires more button presses because of the additional features. In summary, if you need this for your own cars, it's really nice. If you're on the clock and need to check for codes, this is way too slow. I think this would be the perfect device if it had a button specifically just to check codes.

High Value Compact Tool - AL329
This is a very high value tool. For under $35 at the time writing you have access to all fundamental OBD-II information. The ability to see monitor readiness is fantastic when making repairs or seeing if someone has recently "cleared codes" on a vehicle. Live read of sensor data is quite handy for diagnostics. Critically, it clears codes exactly as expected. The display is bright and clear. The buttons are extremely tactile so no errant key presses are likely. The interface is intuitive. The cable is short enough to keep this tucked in a glove box but not so short that you are bent under the steering wheel. Build quality is solid and has withstood hot and cold temperatures easily. There are two points of improvement: 1. the scanner is a bit slow to connect to the vehicle's computer 2. There is no ability to graph or plot data over time. This can make things like seeing oxygen sensor waveforms difficult. However I would argue that for less than $35 these are compromises worth making. The company is also extremely fast to respond to inquiries. They clearly care that you received a working product and are comfortable using it! Personally I would (and do) keep one of these in every vehicle.
