Handy
Initially, I was on the fence with this one. The size was small, but the coffee quality wasn't impressive. I almost returned it. Then I decided to give it a chance and took it with me for an overnight business trip.I don't know why but every time I make coffee, it gets better. I guess you definitely need practice with this.I have decided to keep it as I often have business trips and hotel rooms don't always have a coffee machine.Surprisingly small, too.

Clever, compact, lightweight design.
The media could not be loaded. This manual espresso maker comes apart into many sections. The instruction manual explains which part is where and what it does. Initially it seems a bit overwhelming, but in reality it's very straightforward to use, clean, restore to it's compact size and store. It is ideal for hotel rooms where you have access to a kettle/boiling water. It recommends and so do I recommend, that you heat the chambers and the cup with boiling water before you start. Then pump as quickly as you can because the espresso is being exposed to cool air with every squirt and it cools quickly. Also I'm a bit messy using it so I'd rather use a ceramic (to help keep the heat) and a bigger cup (to prevent the mess). The espresso is impressive because it works! No electricity required just manual labour. It takes 8 pumps to build up the pressure and after that you'll get the squirts of coffee through - I've videoed it, so you can see the effort/number of pumps required. No leaks or mess other than what I create! This is portable and could be used for hobbies like bird watching or fishing. You would need a very good flask to keep your water near boiling or accept luke warm espresso. It's probably better for a hotel stay or in the office where a kettle is on hand. It's quite expensive at £59.90. The technology may well justify the price and the versatility/convenience can not be underestimated here if you have the genuine need for this device....just don't forget to pack the coffee!

Doesn’t keep the water hot
This compact little unit is capable of making espresso coffee when and about by supposedly storing hot water in the top, and freshly ground or pre-ground coffee in the bottom. There is no battery or mains charging required as the coffee is brewed manually by using the built-in pressure pump.Included in the unit is drip tray, coffee spoon (to hold the coffee initially), and brush which are all stored in the top of the unit when it is not in use, together with a small cup, and coffee strainer, which can be adjusted to serve 8g or 12g of coffee to vary the strength, both of which are attached to the bottom of the unit. A small storage pouch is also provided. To use the unit the various parts need to be removed from it, and then the coffee spoon is filled with coffee and the brush used to remove any excess and then strainer is placed over the top and whole thing inverted so that the coffee ends up in the strainer. The coffee can then be tamped down using the base of the coffee spoon, dependant on how coarse the coffee is. I used pre-ground and the coffee is quite coarse so tamping it down could not be done. The strainer can then be screwed back into the base of the main unit and the coffee cup pushed on. I then filled the top with boiling water to the appropriate mark and replaced the main cover cap and tightened it to ensure it was water tight. To see how good it was in retaining the heat, I left the unit for an hour and then checked whether the water was still hot, but unfortunately it was only really lukewarm, so quite disappointing. There is supposed be some thermal insulation but clearly insufficient to keep the water hot, which would be essential when preparing the unit before taking out and about. The coffee can be dispensed into coffee cup by first unlocking the pump at the side of the by turning it anti-clockwise. Once released it is now a matter of pumping the unit in the vertical position while holding it over the cup. This worked fine and the coffee was readily dispensed without issue, but of course it was much colder than it should have been, had the unit retained the heat from the boiling water. So overall this should have been quite a clever little unit and perfect for espresso lovers but regrettably it is not really fit for travelling since it couldn’t retain the heat from the boiling water so disappointing.

An absolute must for coffee loving travellers of all sorts
The media could not be loaded. This is a superb way to get your favourite espresso coffee while travelling, and I mean any kind of travelling from camping and hiking to hotels and staying in houses. It’s small and compact, superbly made and really well thought out, it comes in its own little drawstring pouch but you can also buy a hard shell case for it too. To use it you simply boil some water, unscrew the top of the coffee machine to remove the coffee spoon, brush and drip tray, then unscrew the bottom and remove the coffee holder. Fill the spoon with coffee (you slide the handle out) tamp it down using the spoon and screw it on to the bottom of the machine. Then fill the top of the machine with hot water, screw the lid on, twist the side pump so it comes out, pump it and voila coffee comes out of the bottom. I used a coffee pod and it was perfect. If you’re fussy about your coffee this is an absolute must to take with you everywhere.
