The Santoku made wafer thin onion slices in less than a minute. The bread knife did a perfectly straight number on my baguette and I tested the chef knife and slicing knife on the veggies. I thought this was a ceramic knife set when I ordered it originally so I was a little disappointed that they are stainless steel but that's my fault for not reading as carefully as I should have.That said, for stainless steel knives they are attractive and the built in sharpener will come in handy. I got these to replace an older bigger set of knives. I get just the knives we need with this set. No more specialized knives that we don't use.
