Vogue Knitting Stitchionary: Lace Knitting v. 5
I haven't gone throug all the book, just fliped some pages, but from what I saw, the book is very good. First, it's not to expensive as it is a hard copy. Second the book is very well structured as it beggins with the simple knits and progresses to the more difficult ones and Third the instructions are very clear and all the designs have a sample, so you can see the final work. The only bad thing I can remember, is that sometimes they show some ideas, like a sweater or vest, but they don't tell you how it is made.I strongly recomend the book for beginners and advanced knitters.

A treasure for knitters
If , like me , you like to knit, this is the book for you. Full of designs. Some usual and some not so much. Super photos and instructions. A jolly good buy

Absolutely gorgeous!
This is an absolutely excellent book. I have a lot of stitch dictionaries & a good many of the stitches in the vogue vol 5 are new to me. The great thing is that there are charts (indispensable when designing your own garments) & written instructions & all the stitches have complete swatches pictured in full so that you can see what effect the stitch has on the shape of the edges. This book is so full of inspiration that you could, quite literally, knit forever (especially if used in conjunction with other stitch dictionaries)! There are seven sections of stitches:- easy/mesh, edgings, chevrons, allover, panels, combos & motifs. I thoroughly recommend this book for all knitting addicts. The only word of caution is that it is good to check around for prices - it is available cheaper elsewhere!

More knitting patterns
Vogue Knitting Stitchionary: Lace Knitting is the 5th volume of this Stitchionary. This is a good book, starts from the basic and goes on to more demanding laces. Some of the pictures were not as good as in the previous volumes, the materials were a bit too dark to show the lace properly. I will use this as a source book like I use the previous volumes. If you master lace knitting this may not be for you, but is a good book for beginners and those who search inspiration. The one star missing is because of the dark colours in too many pictures! it completes the set
I bought this to complete my set, but waited till it was a litle cheaper. so far the instuctions are easy to follow, via chart or written down. It isnt every stitch, but it is a good start and is for a knitter at every stage, edges circular, mesh, very complicated etc.

functional ... functional only
it's surprising how inconsistent the vogue volumes are. you would assume that they follow the same principals, but this isn't the case.this book comes with photos, charts and written instructions.the disappointment is the poor over all layout and treatment of the pictures.a lot of the photos look cut out and have discoloured edges. the layout appears unorganized with charts and text almost randomly placed.it's functional and informative, just - in my opinion -not nice to look at.

vogue knitting stitchonary 5 lace
rather disappointed, patterns are shown charted and with written instructions which is good, but I did not find many lace patterns that I was not already familiar with.Had I looked through this book in a shop I probably would not have bought it.

Lovely mouthwatering patterns
Some extremely complex patterns but exquisite results would await those with the skill. Some are not difficult. Few purl WS rows. Both charts and written instructions. Both stitchionary 1 and 5 show at least one lovely photo of knitted clothing, but no instructions are included.

Vogue continues its standard of excellence
I always say "your knitting is as good as your knitting reference." Vogue Knitting continues its standard of excellence with this volume of lace knitting. Of super importance to me are the photographs. It's the photo that makes me want to create the stitch. Once I see the stitch, then my creative juices begin to flow. The photos within the book are large, colorful, modern. Written instruction, charting and stitch key follow and are included on the same page as the work. This series is well put together. I agree, that if you can only afford one really good series, it would be this one. I own many other stitch dictionaries. While each series has great stitches (Original Harmony Guides, to name one) the layout of some books can be convoluted. I find myself constantly turning pages searching for keys etc. . . I don't have this problem with the Vogue series. Sure, certain dictionaries may have more stitch patterns; quantity doesn't always mean a better book. The book must be functional, (lay flat, explain and illustrate proper technique) stitches must call out to the knitter. I must see unique stitches that aren't in my other books. That's what this lace stitch dictionary brings to me.The swatches within the book use Zarina from Filatura Di Crosa, an extra fine merino wool. I've used this yarn before and think it is a good choice to show off the definition of the stitches as opposed to a lace weight. The yarn used is very thin and lace knitting is about the technique used, not so much the yarn. Note that this book is a stitch dictionary, not a book of patterns. There are approximately 5 models in the book modeling garments that I have seen within Vogue magazine pages, but there is no reference to these designs or where you may find the pattern. They are in the book to give the knitter inspiration for the lace stitches. If you've ever had doubts about lace knitting, perhaps thinking it is too intricate, this book will ease that notion and inspire you to pick up your needles and get to knitting those yarn overs!

I find the book absolutely fabulous with clear instructions for reading and following the chart patterns I have been looking for a pattern book that would hepl me to understand how to read the charts and follow them and I have found how to do both in this book ....
