Beautiful book
This book is fantastic. Being desert dwellers and parents of toddlers, we buy a lot of books and are always looking for books that awaken them to and inform them about the natural world they live in. This book is both entertaining and educational. I learned more than a few things myself. I highly recommend this book.

My daughter and I love this book!!
I do love non fiction books for kids. It always impress me how author van give too much knowledge in such a creative and simple way. The illustrations are very pretty and helps the child to understand the lines. It is very good educational/ learning tool for a parent and teachers. I do recommend it a lot!

Wonderful!
Wonderful book with lots of Saguaro biology. We read this before we took our 3.5 year old to Arizona on vacation. After reading about the saguaro cactus he was so excited to see them in person!

I have a copy in our desert house for our guests to enjoy. It doesn't pander to the reader
DESERT SW LOVERS this is a must read. I have a copy in our desert house for our guests to enjoy. It doesn't pander to the reader, as it is a children's book yet adult's can learn so much as well.We have referred to it so often we now feel like experts on the Saguaro

Very Cool Book, Needs More Consistent Phonetic Pronunciation Guides
This is a book I purchased to support 3rd grade home school curriculum on echo systems, and I paired it with a nature hike to learn names of desert trees and wildflowers. This book aligns well with Common Core standards, such as they are. What I loved about this, interestingly enough is on the first page, where it likens the saguaros to people. When our daughter was younger, and I had no idea this book even existed, we used to drive by this cluster of saguaros on the way to our house and call them the saguaro people, and would pretend they were waving to her.Our daughter loved this book, said it's 5 stars. I'm taking a star off because it uses full on genus and species nomenclature without providing phonetic pronunciations. This book does provide them for some words, like Gila, but I felt like the scientific ones would be far harder for children to sound out, and if they're going to be in the book like this, it's either all or nothing with the pronunciations. And since this book is meant to be an educational support, I think it should be all.Otherwise, I think this is a super cool book that incorporates a lot of different elements into it: botany, sociology (how the Tohono O'odham would use the fruits of the saguaro), and ecology.
