Wish I'd Bought This Long Ago
I'm a taller woman, about 5'10". I have been using a standard length Hugger Mugger mat for years. I thought it was relatively normal to have to recenter during a yoga practice to avoid going off the ends of the mat. I don't know how it took me so long to realize I needed a longer length. It has made all the difference! I've only used Hugger Mugger brand mats before, and the quality seems much better than no-name super cheap ones. More cushy, made of a heavier material, and seems more grippy. I highly recommend this mat for anyone looking to elevate their practice. The longer length has brought much more freedom of movement and I find myself doing yoga many times a day now instead of once a week.

The epitome of yoga mats
The media could not be loaded. If you want a good mat, this is the best thing I’ve tried. This mat is durable, with perfect cushion and grip, thickness of about a 1/4 of an inch is ideal for regular practice, and the best part is it’s not toxic.

Great mat...having problems with slipping? Read on...
If you're having problems slipping on your new Tapas mat, try this. Wash it with sea salt and vinegar, rinse it well, and leave it outside in the sun for an afternoon (just to get the vinegar smell off). Also make sure you are NEVER on your mat with moisturizer on your hands/feet/legs - not only will you slip straight away but you'll leave a residue on your mat that is really hard to get off. I've been using my Tapas mat happily for almost a year, 4-5x a week in hour-long Vinyasa classes and I have no problems with slipping. This mat is not falling apart like other (cheaper or more expensive) mats I've used, either. It doesn't have super thick cushioning so I double up with a cheap mat underneath (my studio provides them for free use) for my sensitive knees.Love the long length as I'm quite tall. I appreciate that there isn't a design on it - I like simplicity.

Big improvement for home practice
I've been bouncing back and forth among a little collection of cheap mats for a while, but I knew I wanted to start over with a new, higher-quality mat when I got an Amazon gift card as a gift. (yay!) Unfortunately, I practice on carpet, so the non-sticky and overly thick mats I've been using have been causing some wrist discomfort for me.As a relative beginner, I can't call myself an expert, but I can say that from the first use, this mat has made a big difference. It's definitely sticky, it's at least 4 inches longer than my discount-store mat, and has no smell at all (miracle--my last mat kept its chemical smell for literally years, even after repeated soaking/washing/drying in the sun). I made my own mat wash (water, tea tree oil, lavender oil--google it!) just to take off any manufacturer's coating, and I'll continue to use that to make sure it stays sticky. I think it would be plenty of cushion on a hard floor unless you have sensitive knees, etc., and I feel much more solid on the carpet than I did before.I chose emerald, and the color is lovely in person, a very deep jewel-tone. I don't do hot yoga so I have no input about its usefulness in that practice, but I would say for a beginner/intermediate yogi at home or in a non-hot class, this is a fantastic step up from supermarket mats without a huge investment, and I highly recommend it.

Slippery and thin
The enthusiastic reviews convinced me to buy this, but I was very disappointed after discovering at the first class that the mat was in fact extremely slippery and thin, which made the practice dangerous to the point that I preferred the bare concrete floor. I will be returning this.

So far so good
Overall I'm quite satisfied with this mat. The additional thickness cushions my knees & hands well but does not affect stability/balance. It's slightly longer than my old mat. At first I didn't think I'd need or want the extra length, but it's turned out to be a major plus - a lot less repositioning as I move through my classes. The mat did have a strong smell when I first got it, but it went away after I left it unrolled outside for a few hours.I've read Amazon reviews about this mat being slippery, but that has not been my experience. The first use was a bit slick, but after a few classes and wipe-downs w/the studio's cleaner the mat was sufficiently sticky. I don't feel myself slipping, and it doesn't distract me during my practice. I've used it for super-sweaty and slow classes and have no more problems.

Great Yoga Mat For The Serious Practitioner
This mat is very well suited for beginners to advanced students. It's made in the USA with a very good brand behind it. The mat itself is a bit sticky, but that's a good thing. I'm a fairly well built 5'9 male and this mat works perfectly for me.

Not sticky
Good quality mat, but not as sticky as I hoped. Do not recommend for yoga as hands and feet will slide

Great long mat, but a bit thin.
My only complaint is that it is a bit thin, but other than that this is a great mat, really good quality and quite long, which is exactly what I was looking for! It's also quite light-weight and is sufficiently sticky. Because it is so thin, though, I do use it with a thicket mat on top.

Not grippy enough for my dry skin
The description said suitable for dry hands, but I found it was not grippy enough for me.
