Information is ok but not appealing to youth
I was hoping this was a book I could work along with my teen however the content was not written well to keep her attention. The cover is bright and beautiful however inside resembles a newspaper.

Well written
My granddaughter read this over the summer. She thoroughly enjoyed all of the information that this book provided about what to expect as a teenager and how to eat right, exercise right and do the things she needs to do to feel good about herself. Well written and well advised.

My 9-year-old found this in the children's section of a bookstore. It was shelved with American Girl books and general positivity and child-friendly books. Needless to say, it was not purchased, but in the 15 minutes she had with it in the children's section, the damage was done, to a degree I feel compelled to come here and warn other parents. This book told my 53lbs, 4'5", 5th grader that she should be limiting her consumption of ice-cream, soda, and potatoes. This is not something little girls should be worrying themselves with (eating healthy is something parents should worry about, not tweens). This book teaches extremely disordered eating to an age-group way too young to understand in a friendly and upbeat way that they're not likely to recognise is damaging. This was a while ago, but my daughter told me at the movie theatre just a couple days ago when we were picking sizes of drinks and popcorn that she still thinks about this book and it telling her she should buy the smallest size available every time we're at the movies. She also periodically still brings up the ice-cream portions this book recommends too ("1 small scoop in a small bowl to trick your brain into thinking it's bigger, or have you ever tried sorbet?").

Too much of a negative lecture
My daughter was turned off by this book because it said all the things not to do and insufficient focus on what to do.It took less than an hour for her to set it aside. We need books that motivate kids to do the right thing, not lecture them

The inside doesn’t match the exciting cover!
Looks great on the outside but all black and white and poor quality and no pictures or interest to look at. My daughter rejected it straight away which is a shame as the information was probably good.

would recommend
got this for my 13 y/o sister, this book is more nutrition based than it is activity and exercise. Wish there was more on getting in shape through exercise but the nutrition learning is just as important!!! It focuses in on micro and macronutrients and where to get them which is fantastic. I would not recommend buying for somebody over 15 because it has a very "tween" design to it.

It's a used library book is AMAZING condition
I love this book. Its a used library book but that is OK because its in amazing condition. I didn't buy brand new and I'm glad I didn't, saved a few dollars and y 10 year old loved the book. I want her to have a concept of healthy eating, esp for an active young girl. I loved reading it myself!
