Spectrum Naturals, Shortening Vegetable Organic Gluten-Free, 24 Ounce

This shortening tastes great in baked goods. I appreciate that the ingredients are organic. The shortening is creamy and easy to measure. I just spoon it and press it in to a measuring cup. The container is a good size and lasts for a long time, without spoiling. It works well in all of my dishes. The container is sturdy, with no leakage. You can also use it when greasing and flouring a pan.

Love having an alternative to crisco that we've always used for pies. Works the same, tastes great, healthier for you!

I like that this shortning doesn't contain any soy. The shortning works as well as name brand shortnings in that the baked goods have a great consitency with the bonus of a clean taste. As regular shortning is a step above lard in taste and the lightness of baked goods, Spectrum Naturals is a step above regular shortning and works for thoses who cannot tolerate Soy.

I live in a small town, and while our grocery store is well stocked, some of the prices are unapproachable. I prefer this shortening over the more known brand for making tortillas, and pie crusts.

This is a great option for those like me who are interested in baking or making homemade mayo while following the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP). However, don’t be surprised if everything you order along with this product is covered in shortening when you unbox. The packaging is not really travel-friendly (flimsy plastic container/lid sealed with flimsy plastic shrink-wrap) and I had a bit of a mess to clean up after ordering this. (Have made a mental note to order this on its own in the future, in case it happens again.)

Works well in all my recipes. Taste and texture in my recipes is perfect.
